A Great Big Smooch!

This morning, my husband comes into our bedroom and says in an immediately suspicious tone, “Check your email when you have a minute.” So of course I do, and what do I find? This:

I made a sale!

Let me tell you, I was pretty darn excited. In lieu of editing the book, crafting has been put on the back burner, and it’s been quite a while since I’ve made or sold something.

If you are not familiar with Crafting Water and you would like to know what it is and how it came to be, on the home page of this blog, up at the very top in the header, there you will find a link for both Crafting Water and Living Water International.

In short, however, I make homemade items — home-decor and hair accessories — and when something is sold, I keep enough to cover the cost of supplies and shipping, and give the remaining proceeds to Living Water International. This charity is phenomenal. Their efforts are widespread, but great attention is put toward getting clean drinking water to those forced to seek hydration from ponds and swamps infested with malaria. If interested, you can learn more about getting involved with this organization through the link at the top.

Anyhow  . . .

When I looked to see just who was this wonderful person who had purchased an item, I saw it was none other than Lori! In case you don’t know Lori, which I suggest you rectify immediately, she can be found here: http://blessyourhippieheart.wordpress.com/

Lori and I met here on WordPress. She is one of the relationships that are rare, that go beyond the norm, and one I will forever be grateful for having in my life. Lori, for lack of a better word, is delicious. Yes, an odd choice of adjective, but it’s fitting and I’m keeping it. She is cinnamon and sugar and molasses and caramel. I adore Lori.

In my excitement, I didn’t even pay attention to what item she had purchased. When I saw it was the Antique Ivory Wreath, I was grinning from ear to ear.

One of my favorites, this wreath took me weeks to make. Every circle is hand cut. It was most definitely labor, and I wanted someone very special to have it. Knowing where it’s going, I couldn’t have imagined a better owner for my labor of love.

To show my gratitude and appreciation to Lori, what I really wanted to do was give her a great big hug and a kiss; but seeing how she lives in Texas, I quickly realized this wasn’t going to happen.

Or was it . . .

Friends, meet Lori. Isn’t she beautiful?

Pucker up, Lori! I’m coming in!

Happy Sunday/Monday, everyone!

P.S. Lori, I will be shipping your wreath ASAP. Thank you again for supporting this passion!

  1. Now I’m grinning from ear to ear! I am truly so honored to support your Crafting Water initiative, It’s such a worthy cause, This really is a win win for me because not only can I play a small part in helping those in need, but I get a beautiful work of art as well.

It gives me the warm and fuzzies knowing I’ll be bringing a little piece of you to live in my home! I will cherish it always!

Here’s a Texas sized hug and big ol’ sugar right back at you! I love my drawing too, feel free to tuck in the in shipping box. 😉

  2. Sorry I’ve been MOB (Missing On Blog), Cara. I’ve hibernated trying to regain focus on my WIP. Check out my own blog, it’s been far too long since I did a post of my own over there.

Your wreath is beautiful. And, I will be back to check out the other craft projects you offer. The wreath is stellar. And, the cause? Few efforts move me as much as ones that offer fresh drinking water to those who don’t have this most basic need.

You have a creative gift and you put it to use with each blog you write, each project you support, and each project you craft. KUDOS!

    • Well, I hop you’re having plenty of grace for yourself, Gloria. We humans tend to think we come with superhero abilities, only to be rudely awakened when we finally collapse from exhaustion and stress. One thing at a time. Your WIP takes precedent, or at least I think so. You know I love to hear what’s going on with you, but in your time. When you have a moment and something you want to talk about, I’ll be waiting to read it, my friend. 😉

Thank you . . . Living Water International is an incredible organization and I definitely urge you to check out their site and get involved in any way you are able!

You flatter me, Gloria, and I am amenable to flattery. LOL!

  3. Friendship is a gift, a blessing, a joy like no other. This post reminds me why I’m passionate about blogging. Not only am I expressing my creative self, pouring my thoughts but more importantly, I’m able to get inspiration from others work and connections that goes beyond bounderies of time and distance. WordPress has a lot of generous and giving bloggers out there. The support and friendship is phenomenal. This post is an inspiration.Beautiful work. Have a blessed day!!!

    • You are so right . . . These friendships, while different than those we have in proximity and familiarity, are special in a way that surprises me. I am always moved when someone I have never met has the insight to discern something in my words or offer a kindness I can’t seem to find in my close circle of friends. I am ever grateful for these people, and like you said, the support of a generous community.

      So glad to meet you!

      ~ Cara
