Happy Anniversary, TLL

Yesterday morning, as I was making a few laps around the blogosphere, I noticed a curious but auspicious looking symbol in the upper left quadrant of my screen. It was a trophy cup. Many of you, I’m sure, have received this same icon, and were thereupon congratulated. For those of you who have been plugging away at this immeasurably gratifyingly though fiscally unremunerative hobby for less than three hundred and sixty five days will be asking yourselves why there was call for congratulations. Well, maybe now you’re not wondering; but just in case . . .

It was my one year anniversary.

You registered on WordPress.com 1 years ago!

Thanks for flying with us. Keep up the good blogging!

I sort of just sat there for a moment, staring at the screen but not really seeing it. And I stayed that way — reflecting — for a while, Briefly I contemplated drafting up a post, then in the end decided against it. You know how some mornings are like that: you wake up, see the task at hand and think, “Oh, geez, I just don’t have the energy for this.” And then a different day, with a different set of moods and feelings changes your entire outlook, in which you fix your eyes upon the exact same task and see not a challenge or a burden, but an assignment drawing your inclinations outward. I do love how life works that way.

So, for any of you who’d like to take a gander at my first post ever, here it be:

If not, I take no offense whatsoever . . . though you will not be receiving the delicious virtual white-chocolate macadamia not cookies I baked this morning. Ball’s in your court.

Blog of the Year Award 6 star jpeg

Kim, over at silentlyheardonce.wordpress.com, surprised me a week or so ago by presenting me with this very unexpected award. Kim writes lovely poetry, born of a passionate soul. She writes honestly and openly, sharing her thoughts without fear. Also, she supports her followers by consistently re-blogging their material. Her blog is one I enjoy on many occasion. Just do it. Go visit her, and tell her I said hello, please.

When I say I don’t feel worthy of accepting this award, it is not an act of self-deprecation, but truly a sense of genuine unworthiness. This is because, as of late, I have neither engaged in blogging, nor have I been diligent in reading very many blogs. Some of you will know my plate is a bit full right now, and some days I have just enough energy to smile and remind myself that God is Good. He is Good and His will is divine.

That said, I am astoundingly honored, Kim, so thank you!

From the creators of the award:

1 Select the blog(s) you think deserve the ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award.

In Good Company

The sun shines best when there are those present to receive its warmth.

Lives are full. Schedules are packed. And ambition never sleeps. Yet, still you came.

This is a very quick post to simply say, Thank You. The last couple of days have been abundantly warm and sunny . . . because of you. Because you found time in your day to stop what you were doing and be a part of something that is very special to me. Along with your congratulations and accolades, many of you followed the new blog, liked was was provided, and offered your thoughts for me to savor. Some of you — I’ll have you know — I could actually hear your raucous cheers through the speakers. And a few of you gracious beings went so far to plug the book on your social networking sites. Gloria, Michael . . . thank you. You can find these lovely people at the links below.

One expects such support and kindness from family and friends, those you have walked beside during the storms and rainbows; but from those you have never met? No matter where this road leads, where it suddenly ends and I must turn in search of another, I will have been blessed because kindness touched my life.

And so I shall wend and wind,

taking full oath in that which is staunch and blind, never to

forget what harkens in the rise of the curtain, the fall of the blithe.

Sweet serenades of company and bliss, a marching fathomless fleet to awaken one’s

kiss.

Happy Friday to you, friends.

Because putting it off any longer would just be rude.

It’s going around I think: procrastination. Award season is among us. It’s funny, isn’t it, how they seem to come in waves of two’s and three’s, and then it will be quiet for a long period of time? I think this is because we are close-knit community who genuinely loves to support one another. Thus, we circulate the awards until they have made their way, like a jasmine scented breeze, to those we have come to appreciate, care for, are inspired by, learn from, etc…

The fact is, however, they are a whole-lotta work. This does not diminish my gratitude or appreciation for those finding me worthy of such an honor, but done right, they take time in responding to. There are the proper thanks to intromit, adhering to the regulations of receiving the award, nominating other bloggers, copying the links, copying the images, and so on and so forth.

I have four people to thank today. FOUR!

Jess, you started this whole thing. Darn you, and your heart-melting kindness.
